Privacy Policy

Plain language.
No surprises.

BloomPlayer is built by a parent, for parents. Your child never creates an account, fills in a form, or has any data collected about them. Everything in this policy applies only to you — the parent setting things up.

This is a parental tool

BloomPlayer is designed for parents and caregivers. Your child only sees videos — they never touch sign-in, settings, or anything account-related. That side of the app is yours.

If you sign in

Signing in is optional. It lets you save your own video list so it's available every time you open the app. When you sign in with Google, we save your name, email address, and a link to your personal video list — nothing else.

Your video list is stored in a Google Sheet inside a folder called "BloomPlayer" in your own Google Drive. We use a restricted Google permission , which means we can only access files that BloomPlayer itself created — we are technically unable to see, read, or touch anything else in your Drive. This is enforced by Google, not just by us.

Your PIN

The parent PIN lives on your device. It's never sent anywhere. If you're signed in, it's also backed up to your account so it survives if you clear your browser — but it stays private to you.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand basic usage — things like how many people open the app and which age groups are most used. This is anonymous and aggregated. We use it only to improve BloomPlayer, never to profile anyone.

YouTube videos

Videos play through YouTube's embed. When a video plays, YouTube's own privacy policy applies — we have no visibility into or control over that. You can read it at policies.google.com/privacy.

Supporting BloomPlayer

BloomPlayer is free. If you choose to support the project via Ko-fi, that's handled entirely by Ko-fi and their payment processor. We never see or store your payment details.

Children's privacy

BloomPlayer does not collect any information from children. If you believe a child's information has somehow reached us, email [email protected] and we'll delete it immediately.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app. Go to Parent Mode → Danger Zone → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account record, your saved PIN, and all associated data from our database within 24 hours.

Your Google Sheet (if you created one) lives in your own Google Drive and is not deleted — you can delete it yourself from Drive at any time.

To request manual deletion, email [email protected].

Changes

If something meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We'll never quietly add data collection.

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed from our database within 24 hours. Anonymous usage data collected via Google Analytics is retained per Google's standard retention policies.
